| 5804 | He moved with his family to Bath, Maine in 1900. It was necessary that he go to work before finishing high school. He enlisted in the US Army in 1917 and served in France and the occupation of Germany in a transportation unit. Being among the last to return from Europe, Roy had difficulty trying to regain his shipyard job. The family lived under primitive conditions for a few years. In 1927 he was again released from Bath Iron Works and took a "temporary" job as a loftman at Bethlehem Shipbuilding Division in Quincy, Massachusetts, from which he retired in 1960. He took innumerable correspondence courses and studied technical publications and became a superintendent of hull construction. His specialty was aircraft carriers. | 5841 | His father was the original grantee at Newport N.S. from Tiverton, RI and Dartmouth, Mass. This John Densmore may have been the man of that name who in May 1776 was shown as John Densmore, tailor in Windsor N.S. who leased a farm from Michael Francklin of Halifax, N.S. The farm consisted of 24 acres and an island in the marsh lots of Windsor. The lease was to be based on the "Longest liver of John Densmore's daughter Elizabeth and his son William". This lease was transferred to Richard Nesbitt of Windsor, N.S. on April 3, 1778, (HCReg.BK.3/346). The traditional list of John Densmore's family does not include a daughter named Elizabeth nor a son William and for this reason there is the possibility that the man who leased the Francklin farm may have been a brother of James Densmore. John Densmore inherited under his father's will "that part of farm I purchased from Cornelius Potter with buildings - lies on south side of the road." | DENSMORE, John (I2188)
